Patty Stone grew up in Albuquerque, NM and has lived in the Boston area since 1981. She earned her BFA from the University of New Mexico and her MFA in painting from Yale University School of Art. She was a member of the Bowery Gallery in NYC for many years and her work has been exhibited widely. Her long-standing interest in surface texture and abstraction developed over a year in Spain studying Moorish and Gothic architecture. Her paintings and prints are in the permanent collections of Wheaton College, the Boston Public Library and the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury. She was a resident of the Vermont Studio Center and is a current member of the Full Tilt Printmakers Collective in Dedham. She is an Associate Professor of Art at Wheaton College where she teaches drawing and painting. She lives and works close to the Charles River in Newton.
